Microsoft releases Gears 5’s PC system requirements

Gears 5 is easily Microsoft’s biggest game release of 2019, acting as the highlight of the company’s new Xbox Game Pass system while also acting as one of the company’s first PC games to release outside of a Microsoft-owned storefront. Yes, Gears 5 is coming to Steam, not just the Microsoft Store. 

Microsoft has officially confirmed the PC system requirements of Gears 5, revealing what kind of hardware is needed to run the game. Thankfully, the game’s requirements are low, with the game running on CPUs as low-end as AMD’s ageing FX-6000 series and on graphics cards with as little as 2GB of VRAM. Yes, DirectX 12 support is required, but users of mid-high-end AMD GCN or Nvidia Kepler graphics cards should be able to run the game without major issues. 

Sadly, Microsoft has not confirmed Gears 5’s storage requirements, which are expected to be high on PC given Gears of War 4’s 100GB storage needs. Hopefully, this information will be released before the game launches on September 9th.
