Microsoft’s planning to bring Call of Duty to Xbox Game Pass on day-1

Game Pass is getting a huge boost with day-1 Call of Duty support

According to the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft has decided to include the next Call of Duty game as part of Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft plans to reveal Activision’s next Call of Duty title on June 9th as part of an Xbox showcase.

By bringing Call of Duty to Game Pass, Microsoft has given the game subscription service a huge boost. New Call of Duty (COD) titles sell for £69.99 in the UK. That adds a lot of value to Microsoft’s gaming subscription.

Previously, Microsoft were worried about bringing Call of Duty to their gaming subscription. There were concerns that adding the game to Game Pass would reduce the revenue that any new COD title would generate. However, it remains unclear if Microsoft has plans to increase the cost of their Game Pass subscription to offset these potential losses.

By bringing such a heavy hitter to Game Pass, Microsoft hopes to boost the sales of their Xbox hardware and their Game Pass subscription numbers. Both changes would be great for Xbox, especially given Xbox’s poor performance in this console generation.

Several major game announcements are expected during June’s Xbox Showcase. A new Gears of War title is reportedly in the works. Release dates for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Avowed, and more will likely be revealed. Additionally, we might see the reveal of revised Xbox Series console hardware.
