Modder addressed Monster Hunter Wilds PC stutters with REFramework mod
The PC modder PrayDog has released a new version of REFramework that addressed FPS spikes and micro-stutter in Monster Hunter Wilds. This issue is reportedly caused by the game’s anti-tamper/DRM technology, giving OC gamers a poor user experience.

Github developer build 5bae470 (Nightly 01086). Gets rid of a lot of frame-time/FPS spikes (micro-stutters) caused by the game’s anti-tamper. Fixes some other crashes caused by the game’s anti-tamper. Fixed a deadlocking issue.

These anti-tamper/DRM issues are reminiscent of Capcom’s issues with Resident Evil Village. In 2021, pirates found that the game’s performance improved when they hacked it and removed its DRM calls. Later, Capcom updated the game to address these performance issues, making the game run better on PC. Now it looks like Monster Hunter Wilds has a similar issue on PC.

While popular, Monster Hunter Wild’s PC version is a mess, and these anti-tamper related stutters are just part of the problem. The game has high hardware requirements, and its visuals do not justify it. The game currently has a “mixed” review rating on Steam, with a lot of reviews citing poor optimisation and technical issues.
