PC performance improvements are coming to Monster Hunter Wilds

Upcoming updates will improve Monster Hunter Wilds’ PC performance, director confirms

As part of a lengthy update post on Monster Hunter Wilds, Yuya Tokuda, the game’s director, confirmed that PC-focused improvements are coming to the game. Despite the game’s immense popularity, Monster Hunter Wilds retains a “Mixed” review rating on Steam. Most complaints about the game talk about its poor PC performance and optimisation.

With title update 1 and future PC patches, PC gamers can expect improvements to Monster Hunter Wilds. For starters, a soon-to-be-released update should decrease the game’s VRAM usage. This will make the game much easier to play on GPUs with 8GB of VRAM. Additionally, the game will be updated with a new version of DirectStorage to improve the game’s performance further.

The team is continuing to identify stability issues and make improvements where possible, especially on the Steam version. This will be an ongoing process, where we’ll aim to make continual steps forward in this area and respond to critical issues.

Improvements coming very soon include a reduction in VRAM usage and an upgrade to the DirectStorage version of the Steam version in Free Title Update 1. These should result in an overall improvement in stability for our PC players.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to address reported issues and improve the overall technical experience for players on all platforms. Look forward to continued improvements in Free Title Update 1 and future updates and patches to come.

Alongside PC-focused changes, Capcom plans to deliver a range of quality-of-life changes. This includes UI/UX improvements and other changes that will “enhance the overall feel of the game.”

This week’s Monster Hunter Wilds update is set to add new monsters, a new social hub, and higher-rank versions of existing monsters. For players who want a challenge, this update will introduce “Arch-tempered” monsters, which are stronger versions of tempered monsters.
