PS3 Emulator RPCS3 celebrates its 13th anniversary with 70% of games playable

70% of all PlayStation 3 games are now playable on RPCS3

The RPCS3 team are celebrating the emulator’s 13th anniversary, confirming that “PlayStation 3 preservation is stronger than ever”. Now, 70% of all PS3 software is rated is “Playable” thanks to the ongoing efforts of the RPCS3 emulator’s contributors.

Over the past year, RPCS3 has had 1481 new commits from 15 developers. 89,503 lines of code have been added to the emulator, and 40,393 lines of code have been removed. Today, the emulator is more advanced than ever.

RPCS3’s emulation performance has increased significantly in recent years. The the emulator’s latest video update, showcases these performance gains in detail. Now, PlayStation 3 classics like Metal Gear Solid 4, Demon’s Souls, Killzone 3, and more can run on PC with playable levels of performance. In fact, many PS3 games now play best on RPCS3, thanks to then emulator’s ability to play many games at higher resolutions and framerates.

The past two years have seen major improvements come to RPCS3. We wish the RPCS3 team great success, and hope that they can continue improving their emulator well into the future. RPCS3 is currently the best way to replay many PlayStation 3 classics. In time, it may be the best way to replay the entirety of the PS3’s gaming catalogue.
