Two years of advancements – RPCS3 team showcases their PS3 Emulator’s transformation

RPCS3 PS3 emulator celebrates two years of continuous advancement

RPCS3 is easily the best PS3 emulator available, and frequent updates have delivered huge performance gains and compatibility improvements over the past few years. Now, the best way to play many PlayStation 3 classics is to play them on PC using RPCS3, where many games can be played at higher resolutions and framerates.

Today, the RPCS3 team has released a video highlighting many of the improvements that have been made to their PlayStation 3 emulator. Below, we can see Metal Gear Solid 4, Demon’s Souls, Killzone 3, and more running on PC. Many of these games are only playable on RPCS3 due to the updates highlighted in the video below.

Many of the improvements shown in this video come thanks to RPCS3’s lead developers, KD-11, GALCIV, ELADASH, MEGAMOUSE, and NEKOTEKINA. These developers have made great contributions to RPCS3, and have ultimately made RPCS3 the excellent tool that it is today.

Here’s what the RPCS3 team had to say about their new video update;

It’s certainly been awhile since our last Major Improvements video, in this new showcase we go over some of the more notable changes to RPCS3 over the last two years. However we cannot cover everything and many other notable features such as savestates, or a myriad of games that became playable were not shown. We hope that by showing the date each game improved we can re-assure our audience that despite no videos being released our developers have continued to deliver consistent updates to RPCS3.

Today, the RPCS3 PS3 emulator can run all PlayStation 3 games. 69.13% of games are “Playable. These games are completable with playable performance and no game-breaking bugs. A further 28.39% of titles are “in-game”. These games may be playable with insufficient performance, major graphical issues, or game-breaking bugs. Only 2.47% of PS3 games have not reached in-game status.

The past two years have seen major improvements come to RPCS3. We wish the RPCS3 team great success, and hope that they can continue improving their emulator well into the future. RPCS3 is currently the best way to replay many PlayStation 3 classics. In time, it may be the best way to replay the entirety of the PS3’s gaming catalogue.
