Rebel Galaxy is currently available for free on PC

Rebel Galaxy from Double Damage Games is currently available for free on PC, granting users of Windows-powered PCs access to one of 2015/16’s premiere space games.

The game itself is a Space-Western styled trading and combat sim, which allows players to trade and fight their way across the known universe. Players can explore, mine, take part in piracy or bounty hunting and participate in story missions to advance the game’s plot. Here, players will be able to choose if they are a do-gooder, a crafty trader, a power-hungry pirate or a lone captain who only seeks to make a living.

This free promotion comes via the Epic Games Store, who will give away free copies of Rebel Galaxy until June 27th, after which a game called “Last Day in June” will be available for free. The Epic Games Store version of Rebel Galaxy is said to be DRM free, which means that once installed, players need not log into the Epic Games Store to launch their game.

Rebel Galaxy is a swashbuckling space adventure, with action-packed combat, exploration, discovery, trade, and “negotiation” with the outlandish denizens at the edge of the known universe.

As the commander of an immensely powerful star destroyer, you’ll battle pirates, explore anomalies, befriend aliens, scavenge battle wreckage, mine asteroids, and discover artifacts. Choose your path as a roguish do-gooder, crafty space-trader or power-hungry privateer – or maybe a little of each! Buy larger and more powerful craft with your hard-earned credits, and outfit them with a variety of wicked weapons and defenses. Set in a galaxy of fantastic sights, and secrets to be found, Rebel Galaxy is above all a space epic of adventure, exploration, and combat.

The edge of the universe is a pretty dangerous place, so watch your back.

PC gamers can redeem their free copy of Rebel Galaxy on the Epic Games Store.
