Sins of a Solar Empire 2 is launching on August 15th – Can you run it?
Is your PC ready for Sins of a Solar Empire 2?
Ironclad games has announced that Sins of a Solar Empire 2 is leaving early access and coming to Steam on August 15th. No longer will the game be an Epic Games Store early access exclusive. Soon, the game will be available with all of its factions and content.
Like the original, Sins of a Solar Empire 2 (SOASE 2) will feature three playable races, each of which have two sub-factions. Unlike the original, orbiting planets and other dynamic features will alter the game’s map during play. This will force players to shift strategies over time, and create optimal timings for attacks and other strategies.
SOASE 2 features a new multi-core 64-bit engine that will allow the game to “utilize all available cores and RAM to maximize performance”. This new engine should make the game more performant in late-game scenarios, especially on high-end gaming PCs. Below are SOASE 2’s key features.
Key Features:
- Three unique playable races including the Advent, Vasari, and TEC return with two sub-factions that utilize unique items, mechanics, and Empire Systems to achieve total victory
- Orbiting planets that dynamically alter the map during play, requiring players to gradually shift their strategies as new challenges and opportunities present themselves
- Enhanced tactical battles and deeper combat simulation featuring tracking turrets and missiles that can be blocked by ships or shot down
- Minor factions that provide unique capabilities to players that befriend them through a new influence system
- New economy model that allows players to truly customize their worlds to fit production needs
- 10-player multiplayer matches that allow players to seamlessly join or resume games
- Build and command thousands of high fidelity ships that are effortlessly powered by a new 64-bit multicore engine
- Capital ships that can be equipped with special augmentations to be more effective in battle
- New in-game mod browser allows for easy installation for mods and maps
Sins of a Solar Empire 2 PC system requirements
Sins of a Solar Empire 2 is a scalable PC release. That said, Ironclad games does recommend 8-core CPUs to play the game optimally. While lower-end hardware is supported, having access to more CPU cores and more RAM will benefit this large strategy title. This is especially true for players who enjoy large galactic maps and larger scale games.
