Skull and Bones is coming to Steam next month

Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones is coming to Steam

Earlier this year Ubisoft released Skull and Bones on PC. At launch, the game was exclusive to Ubisoft’s Connect Storefront and the Epic Games Store. Now, Ubisoft has revealed that Skull and Bones is coming to Valve’s Steam platform. The game will arrive on Valve’s storefront on August 22nd, less than six months after the game’s initial PC release.

Skull and Bones is Ubisoft’s long awaited pirate game. The game was originally a spin-off of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag’s on-ship sections. Sadly, the game was in development for over a decade, with the game’s development reportedly restarting several times over that period.

Skull and Bones is an online title. That means that the game cannot be played without an internet connection. The game focuses on naval combat and traversal. Players can gather materials and craft larger ships with more and more weapons. This allows players to challenge larger targets, and loot ever greater prizes. On PC the game runs fairly well. That said, major performance gains are possible with optimised graphical settings.

PC gamers can read our PC performance review for Skull and Bones here. The game will be available on Steam on August 22nd. At this time, it is unknown whether or not the game will be Steam Deck Verified at launch. I guess we will find out in a few weeks.
