Space Marine 2 Hotfix promises “Optimized CPU behaviour” on PC

New Warhammer Space Marine 2 update promises PC CPU optimisations

Saber Interactive has released a new hotfix for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. This update, Hotfix 2.1, brings new CPU optimisations to the PC version of Space Marine 2. However, the update notes specify that it only improves the “CPU Behaviour of high-end CPUs.” Several crash fixes and bug fixes have also been added to the game.

We’ve tested this patch, and sadly, it did not increase the performance of our i9-13900K-based test system. We achieved the same results as we did for our PC performance review of Space Marine 2. Regardless, other users may have different results using a different processor.

During our testing, we found that Intel’s modern hybrid x86 CPU designs play Space Marine 2 optimally when E-cores are disabled. Perhaps this CPU behaviour could be addressed with a future game update.

Greetings Space Marines!

A small hotfix has just been pushed on PC and consoles. Read the patch notes below for the details:

Patch Notes

Crashes and bug fixes

  • Fixed some rare possible crashes when starting the game
  • Fixed a rare possible crash that occured during the first cutscene
  • Fixed several other rare crashes
  • Fixed several rare bugs that were causing soft locks in the story mode

PC Only

  • Optimized CPU behavior on high end CPUs

On top of that first quick fix, we’re preparing a bigger patch for later in September. This patch will bring, among other things:

  • Ultrawide support
  • Private PvE lobbies
  • Sparring Arena in the Battle Barge
  • And more!

Future updates for Space Marine 2 promise to add ultrawide screen support to the game on PC. The game’s big September update should deliver this alongside private PvE lobbies, a Battle Barge sparring arena, and more. Saber Interactive has also promised to add FSR 3 and DLSS Frame Generation to Space Marine 2 in the future.
