STALKER 2 update 1.7 boasts increased performance on all platforms
STALKER 2 has received a major optimisation pass, boosting the game’s performance on PC and consoles
GSC Game World have just released update 1.7 for STALKER 2, upgrading the game’s A-Life systems while adding new difficulty modes, and upgrades to most game systems. One significant change that update 1.7 has delivered is improved performance on PC and consoles. This is thanks to a wide range of optimisations that have been made to the game. Now, STALKER 2 should run faster than ever on PC and consoles.
Below is a list of some of STALKER 2’s performance-boosting upgrades. These changes should impact all players, improving the game’s performance regardless of the player’s platform and chosen graphical preset. Changes include world streaming optimisations, optimisations to specific areas and assets, and a range of other “under the hood” improvements.
Optimization
The list below is just the tip of the iceberg. A lot of things were done under the hood to increase performance on all platforms, setups, and graphic presets.
Optimized Foliage Meshes (changes in performance may be particularly noticeable in the Red Forest).
Optimized Foliage Materials.
Optimized Rostok buildings (Architecture meshes and collision improvements).
Optimized Duga region buildings (Architecture meshes and collision improvements).
World streaming optimizations on most intense locations (Zalissya, Rostok, Slag Heap).
Optimized Lighting on Slag Heap, Zalissya, SIRCAA, Rostok.
Optimized NPCs skeletal meshes.
Optimized Grooms.
Optimized and adjusted Skeletal Mesh budgeting.
Optimized usage of Morph Targets.
Optimized Tick Rate of simulated Components by prioritizing visible primitives with higher screen size.
Optimized update of items used in Contextual Actions.
Optimized Cloth Simulation.
Optimized animation update of placed in world Skeletal Meshes.
Previously, GSC Game World said that they planned to move STALKER 2 to Unreal Engine 5.5.4. It is currently unknown if this goal has been achieved with update 1.7. If not, gamers should expect further performance changes thanks to the engine transition.
