STALKER 2’s Cost of Hope DLC and HUGE 2.0 update unveiled
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is getting a “2.0 update” alongside its new “Cost of Hope” DLC
GSC Game World has confirmed that STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl will be receiving its 2.0 update and “Cost of Hope” story expansion on August 20th. These updates will deliver new content, an upgraded game engine, and a series of long-requested additions to the game.
The game’s “Cost of Hope” expansion will centre around a conflict between the game’s Duty and Freedom factions. The DLC will include new locations, allies, weapons, and story missions.
Update 2.0 will upgrade STALKER 2 to a new version of Unreal Engine 5. At launch, the game used Unreal Engine 5.1, and while GSC Game World confirmed a planned upgrade to version 5.5.4 last year, this long-awaited engine upgrade has been delayed for long enough that a newer Unreal Engine version may have been targeted. Originally, STALKER 2’s engine upgrade was due to happen in 2025. A lot has changed since then. The latest version of Unreal Engine 5 is 5.8.
Newer versions of Unreal Engine 5 should bring performance improvements for all platforms. This should enable stronger visuals on consoles and higher framerates on PC. Update 2.0 should also deliver new content, though specific patch notes for this update are not currently available.
