Starfield will gain FSR 3 and XeSS support in 2024 alongside “new ways of travelling”
Expect big changes to come to Starfield in 2024
On Reddit, Bethesda has detailed sone of the company’s update plans for Starfield. In 2024, Bethesda plans to update Starfield with AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR 3) technology. This was something that the studio has previously promised. In addition to FSR 3, Bethesda also plans to add Intel’s XeSS technology to Starfield. This will give the game support for the resolution upscaling technologies of all major GPU manufacturers.
FSR 3 will add AMD’s Frame Generation technology to Starfield. Currently, Starfield only supports Nvidia’s DLSS Frame Generation technology, which only works on RTX 40 series graphics cards. AMD’s FSR 3 Frame Generation technology works on all graphics cards, opening up Frame Generation to the masses.
In addition to this, Bethesda are working on features like City Maps, mod support, and “all new ways of travelling”. The studio are also working of bug fixes for Starfield. Below is what the studio had to say.
Hey everyone, first, we read all the feedback here and greatly appreciate it and all the time and thought you put into the game. This small update was to mostly address the âpet-asteroid” so many asked about following our last larger update, and we wanted to get that out before the holiday.
Weâve been hard at work on many of the issues youâve posted, and expect an update early next year that will include a large number of âin-progressâ quest fixes as well as FSR3 and XeSS. Though we fixed several quest issues from occurring, in-progress quest fixes are much harder to fix and weâve built a new system to correct those without you having to roll back your save.
Weâre also hard at work on many of new features you asked for, from city maps, to mod support, to all new ways of traveling (stay tuned!). These will be rolling out with a regular cadence of fixes and updates we expect to have roughly every six weeks. If something can be done in a smaller hotfix in between (like the asteroid), and we feel itâs safe, weâll get one of those out as well. Safe is the key here. We do take a lot of time to test even the smallest change in a game this large and dynamic.
Hope this information helps. If there are items you want more info on, or issues to make us aware of, keep posting here or our official Discord. Thanks again for all your support of us and the game.
Mowing forward, Bethesda plans to release a new update for Starfield every six weeks (approximately). With these updates will come fixes, new features, and other changes. At this time, Bethesda has not commented on their DLC plans for Starfield.
