The Witcher 3’s REDkit modding tools are now available for playtesting on Steam

The Witcher 3’s modding scene is about to explode

PC gamers can now sign up to test The Witcher 3’s REDkit modding tools on Steam. These tools will give fans of the game a toolset that’s based on the technology that CD Projekt Red used to create the game. These tools will give modders almost limitless freedom to mod The Witcher 3 on PC.

With these tools, modders will be able to create new quests, items, weapons, characters, and animations. This will allow fans of the game to write new storylines and even create new territories within The Witcher 3.

For now, REDkit is available to playtesters, who “might encounter some issues” when using these tools. The Witcher 3 fans can currently request access to these tools on Steam. CD Projekt Red plans to give access to these tools to modders in batches, and aims to officially release these tools later this year. Alongside these tools, The Witcher 3 now has Steam Workshop support. Early access to Steam workshop support is available by joining this Steam group.

CD Projekt Red’s REDkit tools will be available “later this year” to gamers free of charge. These tools require The Witcher 3 to be installed on your PC to work properly.

You can join the discussion on The Witcher 3’s REDkit modding tools becoming available for playtesting on the OC3D Forums.
