Two New Benchmarks are coming to PCMARK 10

UL Benchmarks has announced that two new benchmarks are coming to PCMARK 10, which hope to provide their users with useful data that is otherwise unavailable to consumers, focusing on application performance and battery life.

The first of these two tests is a Windows 10 Battery Life Benchmark, which hopes to deliver customers and businesses a way to compare their systems fairly, offering practical data for battery life that is both accurate and covers a wide range of scenarios. With PCMARK 10’s new Battery Life Benchmark, UL Benchmarks will offer data for battery life while doing office work, video playback, gaming and when the system is at idle.

This spectrum of data will help end users judge the strengths of their device, offering data that can be applied to their intended use cases. The PCMARK 10 Battery Life benchmark will release before the end of March.

Next up is PCMARK 10’s upcoming Applications benchmark, which is designed to test and compare the performance of PCs with everyday applications that are based on Microsoft Office workloads. This test covers workloads offered by Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the Microsoft Edge browser.

This applications benchmark will support both Windows 10 on ARM and traditional x86 processors, allowing Snapdragon-powered Windows 10 systems to be compared to their x86 counterparts. This benchmark will release in the first half of 2019.
