Ubisoft adds PC/Console Crossplay to Rainbow Six Siege
As part of their latest update to the game, Ubisoft has added PC/console crossplay to Rainbow Six Siege, an option that the company previously restricted. Before now, crossplay was limited to console-to-console crossplay and PC-to-Luna (streaming) crossplay. Now, console players can join PC squads and vice-versa.
Cross-progression is also available in Rainbow Six Siege if users link their PC/console accounts to a Ubisoft account. This can allow players to maintain progress between all of the accounts they play on.
Note that squads with PC players will be matchmade using PC servers. If only console players are in your squad, you will enter console matchmaking. With this in mind, console players shouldn’t worry about how PC players will impact the competitiveness of the game on consoles.
Blackbeard is back with a burly shield that breaks walls and makes him an entry-fragging angle-holding force to be reckoned with once more. This free Operator Remaster launches alongside balancing changes for ballistic shields, player protection advancements, and crossplay between console and PC (note that any squad with a PC player in it will matchmake on PC servers). Season 4 of Year 9 of Rainbow Six Siege is almost here!

Console/PC crossplay is something that players of competitive shooters often dislike. PC players can often play competitive shooters at higher framerates than console players, and take advantage of keyboard/mouse controls to react faster than console players can. This places console players at a disadvantage, especially those on last-generation consoles. In the case of Rainbow Six Siege, this is a non-issue, as only squads with PC players will be matched with other PC gamers. As such, you can avoid PC players by not having a PC player in your squad.
