Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will be available DRM-Free on GOG at launch

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will be available through GOG on day-1

GOG has opened up pre-orders for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, confirming that the game will be available on their storefront on day-1. This means that PC gamers will be able to access the game DRM-free at launch, allowing them to make backups of the game and install it wherever they’d like.

Typically, games arrive on GOG after their launch on other PC storefronts. This is typically done as a way to help avoid game piracy. Other storefronts use a form of DRM or copy protection. Releasing a game on day-1 through GOG could be considered risky, as it means that their game is launching with fewer protections on day-1. On GOG, none of their games require activation or online connections to play.

The original Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines is available through GOG as a “Preserved” game. That means that GOG guarantees that the game will run on modern PCs. Over time, GOG will update the game to ensure it runs on modern OS’. Additionally, features like cloud save support and extended language support have also been implemented. Thanks to these features, GOG is the best place to play the original game. For this reason, many PC gamers may also want to own the sequel through GOG.

Note that gamers who purchase Bloodlines 2 through GOG will get a freebie. GOG purchasers will get a copy of Vampire: The Masquerade – Reckoning of New York if they order or pre-order Bloodlines 2 before October 24th. This offer is only available on GOG

Bloodlines 2 will be available on PC on October 21st. Detailed PC system requirements for the game are available here.
