Playtonics Games is taking its next Yooka-Laylee game in a new direction, moving from the original’s ‘Donkey Kong 64’ stylings to something more akin to the ‘Donkey Kong Country’ series. 
   
This means that Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair will release as a 2.5D platformer which brings with it the graphical capabilities of modern consoles. 

Today, Playtonics has announced that Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair will release on October 8th on PC (via Steam), Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Switch. At launch, the game will cost £24.99, $29.99 or €29.99 at digital retailers. 
 
On Steam, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair has been given minimum system requirements, listing an i5 processor with 3.3GHz clock speeds and an Nvidia GTX 650 amongst the game’s minimum system specifications. 


Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is a brand-new platform adventure from some of the key
creative talent behind ‘Donkey Kong Country’. As the colourful buddy duo you must tackle a series of stunning, 2.5D levels and explore a puzzling 3D Overworld rich with secrets and surprises!
