ADATA launches their XPG SX8200 Pro and GAMMIX S5 M.2 NVMe SSDs
Starting with the XPG GAMMIX S5, the model with the slim heatsink that is pictured above, we have a PCIe 3.0 x4 drive which offers capacities of 256GB, 512GB and 1TB and uses what appears to be 3D TLC NAND (TBC) with an SLC cache, sequential read/write speeds of 2,100/1,500MB/s offering more than a 3x boost when compared to most SATA-powered SSDs.Â
When compared to standard M.2 SSDs, the GAMMIX S5 is said to run 10 degrees cooler than M.2 SSDs that lack an integrated heatspreader, though this heatsink may introduce compatibility issues when used with motherboards that have integated M.2 heatsinks. Â
Next up we have the SX8200 Pro, which is ADATA’s high-end M.2 SSD offering, which used four PCIe 3.0 lanes to offer sequential read/write speeds of up to 3,500/3,000MB/s, easily outpacing the GAMMIX S5. ADATA also advertises this drive’s random performance, which is read/write IOPS of 390/380K. This drive is expected to use TLC NAND with SLC caching, a DRAM cache buffer and E2E Data Protection.Â
Both of these new SSDs are expected to be available later this month, though availability will vary by region.Â
