Apacer’s latest SSD turns gold to cheer on gamers
Hold on… why are we talking about encouragement? This is an SSD article, right? Yes, but one of the selling points of this SSD is its heat reactive colouring, which offers a copper colouring when cool and a “dazzling golden colour” when under load. Apacer claims that their new Panther AS2280P2 PRO M.2 NVMe SSDs have “battle armour” which can cheer on gamers.Â
While Apazer’s “Gaming Armour” may be a pointless feature to some, it is something that helps differentiate their drive from other low-end M,2 offerings. The Apacer AS2280P2 PRO can reach sequential read/write speeds of up to 1,580/950 MB/s, and deliver random write performance of up to 92,160 IOPs, storming past the performance levels of SATA SSDs, while offering value-oriented capacities of 120GB, 240GB and 480GB.Â
Sadly, we do not know the pricing of Apacer’s new Panther series AS2280P2 SSDs, but given their specifications, they cannot be anything other than a value M.2 NVMe offering. Much faster PCIe 3.0 SSDs are available, but not everyone needs the best of the best in terms of storage performance, especially if they are used to mechanical storage solutions.
