Corsair’s blazing fast PCIe 5.0 MP700 SSD is now available
Corsair’s PCIe 5.0 MP700 SSD is now available to purchaseÂ
Corsair have launched a new PCIe 5.0 SSD called the MP700, a new TLC-based drive that promises users sequential read speeds of up to 10,000 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 9,500 MB/s. These SSDs speeds blast past the performance levels of Corsair’s existing PCIe 4.0 based storage drives, delivering user incredible levels of storage performance.
On their web page for this SSD, Corsair has stressed that users of this drive will need a PC with a PCIe 5.0 compatible M.2 slot to access the full potential of this SSD. Using this SSD in a PCIe 4.0 M.2 slot will limit its speeds to PCIe 4.0 performance levels, maxing out sequential read speeds at around 7,400 MB/s. The MP700 will be available in 1TB and 2TB forms, with the 2TB model being available today at some retailers.
Corsair has stated that their new MP700 SSD comes with an optimised heatsink that comes with an optional fan. This heatsink is designed to keep this SSD’s thermals under control under heavy loads, with the SSD’s fan promising to deliver lower thermals while “keeping sound levels under control”.Â

With their MP700 SSD, Corsair promises sequential read/write speeds that are up to 40% faster than their last-generation PCIe 4.0 SSDs and performance levels that are up to 20x faster than SATA SSDs. With ultra-fast PCIe 5.0 storage, you PC should respond quickly to prompts and software loading times should be incredibly short.
Below is what Corsair has to say about their MP700 PCIe 5.0 SSD;
– Gen5 Performance Powered by NVMe 2.0: PCIe Gen5 x4 combines with the massively high-bandwidth NVMe 2.0 interface to unleash higher-speed data transfers and greater M.2 SSD performance than ever before.
– Your PC Made Faster: Load games, boot Windows, and manage large files with unprecedented speed, reaching up to 10,000MB/sec sequential read and 9,500MB/sec sequential write speeds. *Performance and endurance vary by capacity.
– High-Density 3D TLC NAND: Provides the ideal mix of performance and endurance to keep your drive performing at its best for years.
– Microsoft DirectStorage: Enables the MP700 to communicate directly with your graphics card when playing compatible games, for unbelievably fast load times. *DirectStorage requires a DirectX12 GPU with Shader Model 6.0 support.
– Backward Compatible: Support for PCIe Gen4 and Gen3 systems. *Reduced performance on PCIe Gen4 and Gen3.
Over the next few months we expect the availability of PCIe 5.0 SSDs to improve significantly. Like all new technologies, PCIe 5.0 SSDs carry a large pricing premium over their PCIe 4.0 counterparts. That said, these drives are the fastest NAND based SSDs available, and that speed comes at a cost.
