These drives utilise PCIe 3.0 lanes to achieve such high-performance levels, making these SSD speeds achievable on both Intel and AMD-powered systems. At this time, Crucial doesn’t manufacture a PCIe 4.0 complaint SSD, making the P5 the fastest drive in the company’s arsenal.Â
Pricing-wise, the 2TB P5 models costs $399.99 in the US and £392.39 in the UK, with its 1TB counterpart costing $179.99/£175.19 on Crucial’s website. These prices are reasonable given the listed speeds of these drives, though other manufacturers do offer cheaper drives with the same capacities. Â
When it comes to write speeds, most of the P5 series offers sequential speeds of 3000MB/s, with only the 250GB model failing to reach this performance target. The 250GB model offers users sequential write speeds of 1400MB/s, which while much slower than its larger counterparts is still a lot faster than all SATA SSDs.Â
Crucial’s new P5 series of SSDs ship with a 5-year limited warranty and support for operating temperatures as high as 70 degrees celsius. At this time, Crucial hasn’t revealed its retail pricing for these new drives.Â
