NVMe SSD bargain – Crucial’s 1TB P3 SSD is now available for £44

Let’s face it, storage requirements are getting larger, be it for workstation software or for the latest games. Earlier today, EA confirmed that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor would take up a whopping 155GB of storage on PC, and 100GB+ game install sizes are quickly becoming commonplace, not a noteworthy exception.

Today, PC builders should all be investing in SSD-based storage. Simply put, mechanical drives are slow and unresponsive. Most PCs ship with NVMe SSD storage today, and most modern games and applications are expected to be used from fast SSDs. As such, most PC builders and upgraders want SSDs that can offer the highest capacities possible and deliver fast s data access, and the good news today is that SSD prices have fallen significantly since this time last year.

Right now, Crucial’s 1TB P3 SSD is available for £44 in the UK though Amazon, and its 2TB counterpart is available for £93. These are excellent prices for a tonne of storage, and for those who want more, there is a 4TB model for under £217. While the 4TB is less value for money, it is a great option for those who want more storage from each of their PC’s M.2 slots.

While these drives aren’t the fastest, they are incredibly affordable, and most with sequential read speeds of 3500 MB/s, they max out the potential of PCIe 3.0 M.2 slots. Not bad given the bargain prices of these SSDs.

Want a faster PCIe 4.0 drive?

If you want something faster, Crucial’s PCIe 4.0 1TB and 2TB P5 Plus SSD is available for around £88 and £151 respectively. These are solid prices for PCIe 4.0 storage drives, and their 6600 MB/s sequential read speeds are more than high enough to make this SSD PlayStation 5 compatible. Just add a heatsink, and you can upgrade your PS5 with 1TB or 2TB of additional storage at a minimal cost.

Crucial P5 Plus

– Crucial P5 Plus 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD – £87.98
– Crucial P5 Plus 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD – £150.66

NAND prices have fallen significantly over the past few months, and that has sent SSD pricing into freefall. This makes now a great time to buy a new SSD, especially if your PC is in need of some extra storage.
