Gigabyte’s Aorus Gen5 10000 SSD has been listed in the US, boasting crazy fast read speeds

Gigabyte has become the first company to list a PCIe 5.0 SSD at a US retailer, with Newegg offering pre-orders for their 2TB Aorus PCIe Gen5 10000 SSD for $339.99.

With sequential read speeds of up to 10,000 MB/s and sequential write speeds as high as 9,500 MB/s, Gigabyte’s latest Aorus SSD offers users a huge speed boost over the company’s older PCIe 4.0 based Aorus Gen4 7000 series drives. Additionally, Aorus’ new PCIe 5.0 10000 series drives also offer users 2x as much DRAM cache as as their older PCIe 4.0 7000 series drives, with their new 2TB drive having 4GB of on-board DRAM cache.

Gigabyte’s Aorus Gen5 10000 SSD ships with a meaty heatsink, which is designed to keep their new PCIe 5.0 SSD cool under extremely heavy loads. If you are running back-to-back SSD benchmarks on your drive for testing, or simply have an extremely storage-heavy productivity workload to throw at your SSD, this heatsink solution could prove to be very valuable. That said, users do have the option to use this drive without a heatsink, or with the included SSD heatsinks on your motherboard.

Sadly, Gigabyte’s Aorus Gen5 10000 SSD has not been listed at any UK or European retailers, so we cannot comment on this SSD’s pricing outside of the US. On top of that, this drive’s 1TB model has also not been listed, leaving us unable to comment on the pricing of that drive.
