KIOXIA gives its EXCERIA PLUS range a PCIe 5.0 boost

KIOXIA is giving its EXCERIA PLUS series an 80% boost with their new G4 model

KIOXIA plans to transform its EXCERIA PLUS SSD lineup next month by releasing a new PCIe 5.0 compatible G4 model. This new model reportedly boosts SSD read speeds by 80% over KIOXIA’s G3 model. This is thanks to the drive’s new controller and its new BiCS TLC NAND flash.

The EXCERIA PLUS G4 reportedly has maximum sequential read speeds of 10,000 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 8,200 MB/s. The drive will be available in 1TB and 2TB forms, with the 1TB model having slightly slower sequential write speeds up to 7,900 MB/s. Both drives are capable of  1.3 million and 1.4 million read and write IOPS, respectively.

Sadly, the pricing for these new PCIe 5.0 SSDs is unknown. However, given their maximum speeds, both drives will deliver more mainstream pricing than higher-end PCIe 5.0 SSDs.

KIOXIA reportedly plan to release their new PCIe 5.0 compatible EXCERIA PLUS G4 SSDs in late January. These new SSDs will likely be showcased at CES 2025, where we are also likely to see the reveal of new PCIe 5.0-compatible PC motherboards.
