Kioxia’s Exceria G2 1TB SSD is a steal for £45

A solid SSD for an incredibly low price

Everyone needs storage inside their PCs, but not everyone needs the cutting-edge storage speeds of PCIe 4.0 and 5.0 SSDs. For many of us, affordability is the most important factor, especially now that 100GB+ games are commonplace. For this reason, we feel that this 1TB Kioxia Exceria G2 SSD from Scan Computers is a compelling offering at £45. It may not be the fastest SSD out there, but it is very affordable.

What makes this SSD a compelling offering isn’t just its price. Unlike most low-cost SSDs, this drive features a DRAM cache and TLC NAND. It doesn’t use cheaper, slower QLC NAND or leave out its DRAM cache to cut costs. The only downside of this SSD is its maximum speed, which maxes out at 2,100 MB/s. This is still much faster than any SATA SSD but much slower than today’s high-end NVMe SSDs.

This SSD is a great option for budget gaming systems or for those who want a cheap storage upgrade. At 4.5p per GB, it is a steal. Being PCIe 3.0 compatible, it doesn’t need a new motherboard to run at its peak speeds. This drive will work well on older systems, making it a great upgrade option for older laptops or any PC with a spare M.2 slot.
