MSI reveals their Xpander-Aero 4-way M.2 to PCIe card
This product offers users support for full length M.2 22110 solid state drives, though please note that the unit only supports PCIe operation, which means that SATA M.2 drives will not operate correctly on this expansion card.
Unlike ASUS’ Hyper M.2 expansion card, MSI has decided to use a PCIe 6pin power connection to power their connected storage drives, ensuring that any connected SSDs can access the power they need. MSI has also added an Aero-series GPU-style cooler to the unit to ensure that the user’s SSDs remain cool under load.
The only potential downside of MSI’s Xpander Aero is the fact that it occupies a dual-slot form factor, which could be a factor for users of several PCIe devices. MSI has stated that this product will ship with their new X399 MEG Creation motherboard. At this time it is unknown whether or not MSI plans to release their Xpander Aero M.2 PCIe expansion card separately.
