MSI teases their first gaming handheld – Expect to see more at CES 2024

MSI teases a Steam Deck-like PC gaming handheld

MSI has teased that a “whole new breed of MSI dragon is coming“, and that we can expect to hear more at CES 2024. Based on MSI’s teaser, it is clear to us that MSI are working on a PC gaming handheld, a device that will compete with Valve’s Steam Deck and ASUS’ ROG Ally.

Below you can see everything that MSI has showcased in their teaser. While MSI has not confirmed the name of this new handheld, we expect MSI to call it the “Dragon”. We can see that the handheld feature’s MSI’s Gaming logo on its rear, which prominently features MSI’s dragon logo. We can also see that the handheld features RGB illuminated joysticks.

At this time, we do not know the specifications of MSI’s “Dragon” handheld. It is likely to use either AMD’s Ryzen Z1 processor, or an Intel Ultra 100 series CPU. Both feature strong integrated graphics solutions. That said, AMD processors have been utilise more extensively in the handheld PC market. ASUS’ ROG Ally and Lenovo’s Legion GO handhelds both use AMD Z1 series CPUs.

OC3D will be present at CES 2024. At the event we hope to see MSI and get a glimpse of this handheld ourselves. We will be sure to ask for detailed specifications for this device, and see what OS MSI plans on using.

You can join the discussion on MSI’s upcoming handheld gaming system on the OC3D Forums.
