MSI’s next-generation Claw 8 AI+ handheld leaks ahead of official reveal
It looks like MSI will be revealing a new Claw series handheld at Computex 2024
Thanks to @momomo_us on Twitter/X, we have received details about the next-generation MSI Claw handheld. At Computex 2024, it looks like MSI plans to reveal a new Intel Lunar Lake-powered MSI Claw 8 AI+ handheld, sporting an larger 8-inch display, and Thunderbolt 4 support.
Intel has previously confirmed that Lunar Lake will feature Xe2 integrated graphics. That means that this new handheld should feature much more integrated GPU performance than MSI’s original Claw handheld. Intel has claimed that Lunar Lake will deliver a 50% boost in GPU performance over Meteor Lake. That’s a big deal for the MSI Claw 8 AI+.
Today’s leak also states that MSI has partnered with Bethesda to create a limited edition Claw X Fallout handheld. This model reportedly features a 7-inch screen, unlike the new Claw 8 AI+. This custom model will have the styling of Fallout’s Pip-Boy device.
(Intel Lunar Lake CPU details)
If Intel’s Lunar Lake CPUs are as powerful as expected, MSI’s new Claw handheld should be more powerful than competing PC gaming handhelds. This should place MSI’s Claw ahead of the ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo’s Legion Go. That said, it remains to be seen how this new handheld will perform in real-world scenarios.
