Nvidia N1x-based laptops listed by Lenovo

Lenovo appears to be building laptops with Nvidia SoCs

Nvidia has plans to enter the laptop market with its own ARM-based SoCs, challenging AMD, Intel, and Qualcomm. Now, data miners have uncovered Lenovo listings referencing an “NV N1x” SoC, an apparent reference to Nvidia-made hardware.

Lenovo is transparent when it comes to its naming conventions. I means Intel, A means AMD, and Q means Qualcomm. So what does N mean? What could it mean aside from Nvidia?

Nvidia has already made it clear that they have plans for the AI PC market. We expect to hear more about these plans later this year. Nvidia will likely create a new ARM-based SoC that is augmented with their existing GPU and AI technologies. Sadly, nothing is known about this SoC at this time or how it will compare to products from AMD, Intel, or Qualcomm.

If Nvidia enters the PC market, it has the potential to end the duopoly of AMD and Intel. While Qualcomm do make PC SoCs, their market share remains small. Beyond that, their PCs still have problems when it comes to software compatibility, especially when it comes to gaming. Nvidia could bypass these issues with stronger GPU drivers. This could make Nvidia’s new products ideal for ARM-based PC gaming.
