Test Setup

We’re still using our revamped test rig for the Radeon testing. We know that some of the more nit-picky of you might wonder why we’re not also using the 5000 series Ryzen CPUs to make the most of the Rage mode, but Rage mode works on the Ryzen 9 3950X just fine, and we want to be able to compare like for like as always, and the 3950X is what we’ve tested everything else in our graphs on. Given that most people don’t run CPUs as powerful as this, putting an even more powerful one in won’t teach us anything nor help you in your decision making.

Clock Speeds

There are many ways to overclock, as we’ve just shown you. We’ve tried the automatic software overclocking, manual overclocking, and on the XT we’re showing off the Rage mode too. The RX 6800 is hardly a slouch out of the gate, but it’s incredible how high you can push these in raw clock speed terms. 2550 MHz on the RX 6800 XT beggars belief.
