In The Flesh

If you’ve been following along with the ASUS Strix range then the shroud and fan design will be very familiar. Whether you like the ‘industrial bracing’ style of design is entirely up to you, but it certainly makes the Strix stand out from its contemporaries.

The backplate is very flash with a large opening to move air upwards towards the top half of your case, whilst the left hand side GPU surround is as highly polished as any we’ve seen. No Strix branding on the back though, notably.

The cooler seems to be in two separate sections, with the lighting taking up the bottom section whilst the top is all about giving the heatsinks maximum surface area to dispose of their hot air. We’re very keen on the subtle ROG eye logo in the centre beneath the RTX identifier.

As always with ASUS Strix cards you have a choice between a performance mode which gives it all the power and clock speed at the expense of a little extra heat and thus fan noise, or a quiet mode which is preferrable for those of you who can hear every last breath of air and fan RPM. Fortunately, as we’ve seen in the past, the quiet mode doesn’t compromise performance too much.
