We’ve been big fans of the vanilla AMD cards of late, but if the RX 6600 XT looks like that it’s unlikely to win any aesthetic awards. Thankfully we’ve got the more attractive partner models to review in the form of the ASUS ROG Strix.

The addition of Ray Tracing cores and a massive – nearly 1 GHz – clock speed boost when compared to the RX 5600 XT should allow the RX 6600 XT to push out some massive frame rates at 1080P and might be the perfect card for those of you who like a Radeon in your rig. We’re not expecting any fireworks from the ray tracing element as even their flagship models are only good, but it’s a nice extra feature.

FSR is AMDs own version of a technology which will give you a frame rate boost without compromising your image quality. Thankfully for us they’ve chosen three very current titles to flex their muscles about. After all, the popularity of the Tall Vampire Lady can’t be overstated and we know that many people love their fix of smiting the Umbrella Corporation. It might not be a massive improvement, but a boost is a boost.

Naturally any time a manufacturer picks a card to compare against you’re at the mercy of their choice. The trouble with the lower end cards is we don’t test so many of them so the games we use might not have results for similar cards. We’ll do our best to bring you useful numbers, but for now you can see how AMD rate the RX 6600 XT versus the most popular choice, the GTX 1060.
