ViewSonic Elite XG270QG G-SYNC Review

Introduction

If you’ve been following the world of flat panel monitors since their inception then you will be familiar with the name ViewSonic. They have been around for many years and were one of the first companies to bring CRTs to the home, adopt the TFT technology and free us from our displays which weighed about as much as the Titanic with all the glare and an Oscar red carpet. They have been at the forefront of the low latency displays which we now all take for granted.

As the actual panel within monitors quickly became standardised and produced by a limited number of companies, so other big manufacturers got on board the high end display bandwagon and ViewSonic, for a while, dropped off of our radar. Not as a consequence of their product quality, just because they were still turning out models which were a little more utilitarian than flashy and therefore somewhat passed us by. In recent times though they have been turning their might and expertise into bringing their monitor range up to date and bedecking them with all the elements which the modern, feature obsessed, buyer will require.

One such panel is the ViewSonic Elite XG270QG, which boasts a 2560×1440 IPS panel, with a whopping 165Hz refresh rate supporting the G-SYNC technology and has a host of touches – RGB lighting, headphone stand, mouse bungee, all metal stand – that rise it above the commonplace. Naturally we couldn’t wait to get our hands on it and discover if the ViewSonic mojo is still in full working order.
