3DMARK Speed Way Tested – The DirectX 12 Ultimate Benchmark
3DMARK Speed Way Performance
Like most ray tracing focused benchmarks, Nvidia’s RTX series graphics cards outcompete their Radeon counterparts in 3DMARK Speed Way. AMD’s RX 6800 XT is bested by Nvidia’s RTX 3070, and AMD’s RX 6700 XT is beaten by Nvidia’s RTX 2080 SUPER.
Right now, it is clear that Nvidia has a performance lead when it comes to 3DMARK Speed Way performance, and we expect that this lead will be extended by Nvidia’s new RTX 40 series GPU models. That said, AMD’s Radeon RX 7000 series of RDNA 3 graphics cards could give AMD’s DirectX 12 Ultimate performance a huge boost.
While this benchmark can run on GPUs with 6GB of VRAM, it is clear that Nvidia’s RTX 2060 has fallen far behind Nvidia’s 8GB RTX 20 series GPU models. Perhaps 6GB of VRAM is not enough for this benchmark to run as fast as it could, as a RTX 2070 SUPER is not two times faster than an RTX 2060 in standard tests.
When comparing RTX 30 series GPUs to their RTX 20 series competitors, it looks like Nvidia has packed a lot of DirectX 12 Ultimate improvements into their newer RTX 30 series silicon, which makes sense given the fact that they are second generation DirectX 12 Ultimate graphics cards.
