PCSpecialist Vesper Duel System Review
Conclusion
Conclusion
The PCSpecialist Vesper Duel is, as is nearly always the case, fantastic value for money.
Component choice is excellent. No item of hardware has had too much money spent on it, nor too little. If we were being super picky we’d perhaps have liked a 2TB drive instead of a 1TB, just because games have got so big. If you brought Baldur’s Gate 3, Borderlands 4, Mortal Kombat 1 and Spider Man 2, you’ve pretty much filled it up already. Okay there are loads of games nowhere near those sizes, but it’s worth bearing in mind.
Sweet Spot
Certainly as you saw from our testing, whatever you pick the RTX 5060 Ti and Core Ultra 7 270K Plus combination give you excellent performance. 4K would require a fair bit of settings tweaking, or just less demanding games, but 1440 lets you run pretty much anything at any setting. 2560×1440, or an ultrawide with similar pixel count, is very much the performance sweet spot. Go much bigger on your resolution and the GPU needs become expensive. Drop to 1080 and you could run on a toaster with a screen. 1440 is the balance between affordable performance and eye-candy, and it is into this place that the PCSpecialist Vesper Duel lands.
A couple of really interesting things also came out of our time with this. Firstly, this is the same case as we saw with a Ultra 5 250K Plus in it, and that was much hotter due to the air-cooler. Despite being a full panoramic glass case, the combination of fans and big 360mm AIO really tame the Intel processor. Secondly, this might be the first system, certainly the first that springs to mind, where the CPU is a little bit beefier than the GPU. Throughout testing we came away impressed by the effforts Intel put into making their Core Ultra processors work. The 270K Plus is a star.
Final Thoughts
It looks amazing with ARGB fans beaming through the full panoramic glass of the Lumin XC case, and performs beautifully thanks to some clever hardware choices and balances. Available right now for £1999, the PCSpecialist Vesper Duel wins our OC3D Gamers Choice Award.
