Fractal North – A modern design that moves away from gamer aesthetics
The PC case market is at its best when there is a variety of designs and styles on shelves, offering PC builders something more than the ‘gamer’ styling that the industry has gotten used to. Today, Fractal has launched something fresh, moving away from RGB lighting and harsh angles to create something that’s fresh bust unmistakably Fractal.
With Fractal’s new North chassis, the company is combining airflow design with Scandinavian aesthetics to create a chassis that would look at home within most modern homes. With real wood, neutral materials and a reasonable price point, Fractal’s North chassis offers something that is different to the norm, and we like it.
The Basics
To get the essentials out of the way, Fractal’s North chassis is an ATX chassis that will be available in Black and White, with the Black Model coming with real walnut trim on its front while the white model uses oak. Each colour option for Fractal’s North chassis will also be available with either a windowed or mesh side panel, with the mesh side panelled model coming with additional fan mounts.
Like most modern PC cases, Fractal’s North chassis is designed to be broadly compatible with a variety of PC hardware configurations and can support graphics cards that are up to 355mm long. Out of the box this case ships with two front mounted 140mm Aspect PWM fans, and its front I/O supports two USB 3.0 connections and a single USB Type-C 3.1 Gen 2 connection.
Pricing
In the US, all of Fractal’s North models will cost $129.99, with the case’s UK and EU pricing coming in at £135 and €154.99 respectively. Below are the full specifications of Fractal’s North chassis.
Radiator-wise, Fractal’s North chassis supports a top-mounted 240mm radiator and front-mounted radiators that are up to 280mm (2x140mm) or 360mm (3x 120mm fans) in size. For most users, we recommend using a top mounted 240mm Radiator.
