MSI MEG CoreLiquid E15 360 CPU Cooler Review

Meet the MSI MEG CoreLiquid E15 360

MSI goes super premium with its MEG CoreLiquid E15 360 CPU cooler

MSI has just launched its MEG CoreLiquid E15 360 CPU cooler, the company’s newest top-of-the-line liquid-cooling solution. With it, MSI isn’t just aiming for strong performance, but aims to wow users with its exceptional build quality and several industry-first technologies. This isn’t a mere copy of what everyone else is doing in this space; the CoreLiquid E15 is distinctly MSI, and distinctly MEG.

Unboxing

Upon opening the box, it is clear that MSI wants to give its users a premium experience. This isn’t the egg-carton-like internals of cheaper all-in-one liquid-cooling solutions. Everything has its place here, everything is secure, and everything is well labelled.

Front and center is MSI’s 110° 2K AMOLED screen. This screen features a resolution of 2240×1080 and features a 110-degree bend. Many competing liquid coolers use a tighter 90-degree bend, which actually lowers the visibility of the entire screen. MSI uses a 110-degree bend so that both parts of the screen can be seen at more angles. This is great news for owners of panoramic-style PC cases.

Much of the housing for this screen is made of Aluminium, giving it greater weight and rigidity. This gives this screen a more premium feel than competing products, and MSI claims that this housing can act as a heatsink and help increase screen longevity.

Features

The MEG CoreLiquid E15 is a premium CPU cooler. To achieve this, MSI has integrated several “industry-first” features. For starters, MSI has included 90-degree tubing clips to enable better tubing management for this liquid cooler. Additionally, MSI has included “Laminar Focus Fan” technology on its liquid cooler alongside an “EZ Conn One-Cable Design”.

Another neat feature is MSI’s Cooling Safeguard. If one of this cooler’s three fans is stopped, the other two will speed up to prevent overheating or other issues.

Thick Radiator – Laminar fans

If you look more closely at MSI’s MEG-series single-frame fan, you will notice that the central fan spins in the opposite direction to the other two. This design reduces noise pressure, and MSI claims it can reduce it by 22%. This makes the cooler quieter without sacrificing cooling performance. I wonder if other cooler manufacturers will copy this MSI-first idea in the near future.

Note that this CPU cooler uses a 30mm thick radiator and ships with its fans pre-attached. Fan cables are pre-routed and are connected to your system using MSI’s  single-cable integration using a JAF_2 connector.

Getting the details right

The MEG CoreLiquid E15 is a cooler that gets its details right. This cooler is intended to be used alongside other MSI MEG products. As such, it has a design aesthetic that closely matches other products. MSI’s gold-coloured aluminium MEG siding matches other MSI MEG products, creating a unified look for the series.

Even outside of an all-MEG system, the CoreLiquid E15 looks great inside our CPU cooling test system. Note that this CPU cooler’s fans are all ARGB illuminated.

Premium Thermal Paste

MSI has shipped its newest CPU cooler with premium MEG thermal paste, promising conductivity levels of 7W/m°C. MSI clearly wants to maximise the performance of its new CPU cooler.

OC3D CPU Cooler Test Rig Specifications

Last year, we built a new PC for CPU cooler testing. This new PC has a newer, hotter-running CPU, a more power-hungry graphics card, and a cooling layout that is common for today’s gaming PCs. Simply put, we have moved to more modern hardware so that we can better test modern CPU cooling solutions.
