If you ask gamers what their favourite Assassin’s Creed game is, a lot of them will say it’s Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. Black Flag is a game that is set in the Caribbean, an 18th century pirate fantasy game that wowed gamers when it released in 2013.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag launched as a cross-generation title, launching on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game’s popularity created Skull and Bones, a dedicated pirate game that sits outside of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Despite the game’s origins in 2013’s Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, Skull and Bones remains unreleased, being trapped in what many call “development hell”.

Ubisoft has reportedly green-lit a remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. with the game’s development being in its early stages. Since this game is reportedly a remake and not a remaster, gamers should not expect to simply see the game’s 2013 original with higher framerates, 4K compatibility and other select upgrades. Ubisoft appears to be planning to utilise the technology that they have created for Skull and Bones to create a modern remake of Ubisoft’s 2013 classic.
