Modders add VR support to Yooka-Laylee

Modders have now added VR support to Yooka-Laylee using OpenVR, allowing the game to work on both the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

This creates a game that is similar to Lucky’s Tale on the Oculus Rift, bringing a new 3rd person platforming experiences to VR users. While VR’s most impressive titles so far have been first person, there is no denying that 3rd person platformers can be very satisfying to play in VR, especially with the free moving head mounted camera.

This mod is currently available on Github, with full installation instructions. This mod is still in early development, so the game’s modded VR support could improve a lot in the future. Right now certain parts of the game, like load screens and other 2D images are shown on a virtual 2D screen, though this could be changed in time.
