Microsoft will soon offer Linux distributions on the Windows Store
Everyone should already know that Windows is not the only OS available, with Linus and its many distributions being dominant worldwide for server acting as the baseline that both iOS and Andriod are based on.
While Windows may be dominant in the consumer PC market, it is certainly not elsewhere, causing Microsoft to do what was previously unthinkable and add Linux-like features to Windows and soon have Linux Distributions on the Microsoft Store itself.
At Microsoft build 2017, the company announced plans to bring Ubuntu, SUSE Linux and Fedora to the Windows 10 Store, allowing users to directly install these versions of Linux and run them as virtual PCs for development and testing purposes.
These Windows 10 Store versions of Linux will have the same command line options as their full counterparts, with their presence on the Windows 10 store allowing them to even be used on the education focuses Windows 10S variant.
In recent years, Microsoft has worked to embrace Open Source developments, making their OS more appealing to developers and students than ever before, with this native virtual machine functionality making Windows 10 a much more appealing development platform than before.
