Rise of the Tomb Raider’s latest patch includes Ryzen CPU optimisations

Square Enix has now released their twelfth patch for Rise of the Tomb Raider’s PC version, which is designed to address some issues with the game’s DirectX 12 version.

This update is designed to address the performance of the game in CPU bound situations, especially when the player is using AMD’s new Ryzen CPUs.

Hopefully, this means that Square Enix will be working to optimise their future games for both AMD and Intel CPU platforms and work to take advantage of high core/thread counts on PC. Thanks to the release of Ryzen, both AMD and Intel now offer high-performance, multi-threaded CPUs with much lower pricing than before, making it more important than ever that developers take advantage of the hardware available.

Those who suffer from any issues with this patch will be able to roll the game back to the previous build of the game using Steam’s beta functionality, which Square Enix use to archive older versions of the game.
