AMD reveals that Threadripper is built using their best Ryzen CPU dies

AMD’s new Threadripper series of CPUs has been released, bringing with it some impressive benchmark results over a wide range of applications.

One thing that many will have noticed when looking over Threadripper reviews is that AMD’s latest part if overclocking a little better than their Ryzen 7 counterparts, with our own chip maxing out at 4.2GHz.

AMD has designed Threadripper to be used with only the best performing Ryzen CPU dies, to keep electrical leakage at a minimum and to make Threadripper as power and thermally efficient as possible. As a side effect of this, the average Threadripper CPU will overclock better than a Ryzen 7 counterpart, though the silicon lottery still applies.
