Silverstone Reveals 1kW SFX-L Power Supply – Small, Yet Powerful

At Computex 2019, Silverstone revealed a new, high capacity entry into its SFX-L PSU lineup, promising users 1kW of power in an enclosure that’s little more than a litre in volume.

Right now, this model is known as the Silverstone SST-SX1000-LPT, and it is currently the world’s only SFX power supply to be rated at 1000W, offering full modularity and compliance with both the ATX and EPS power specifications.

To create this unit, Silverstone has not skimped on any of their components, offering 80 Platinum-grade efficiency, and the ability to deliver 83.3 amps over the PSU’s 12V rail. Not bad for a unit which focuses on size.

The SFX-L form factor is an extension of the smaller SFX form factor, offering some additional length to deliver more power and enable compatibility with larger cooling fans. This extra length means that Silverstone’s 1kW SFX-L unit will not fit into all SFX-complaint PC cases, which means that end-users will need to be careful when selecting their next enclosure.

Silverstone plans to release their 1kW SFX-L power supply in Q1 2020 and at this time the product doesn’t have an estimated retail price. We can expect to hear more in early 2020, likely at CES 2020.
