Geforce Now users have lost access to Activision Blizzard games on the service
Note that this change wasn’t Nvidia’s decision, as Activision Blizzard requested that their games were removed from the service. At this time, Activision Blizzard hasn’t revealed a reason for this decision.
An Nvidia representative has confirmed that developers have asked for Nvidia to bring more than 1,500 new games to their service, which Nvidia plans to add on a weekly basis. Even so, the loss of Activision Blizzard will be felt by Nvidia’s Geforce Now Founders.
Below is Nvidia’s full statement regarding Activision Blizzard’s decision to remove their games from Nvidia’s Geforce Now service.
As we take GeForce NOW to the next step in its evolution, we’ve worked with publishers to onboard a robust catalog of your PC games.This means continually adding new games, and on occasion, having to remove games – similar to other digital service providers.
Per their request, please be advised Activision Blizzard games will be removed from the service. While unfortunate, we hope to work together with Activision Blizzard to reenable these games and more in the future.
In addition to the hundreds of games currently supported, we have over 1,500 games that developers have asked to be on-boarded to the service. Look for weekly updates as to new games we are adding.
For an unknown reason, Activision Blizzard doesn’t want their PC games to be streamable onto other devices though Geforce Now. Perhaps they have plans to create their own streaming service, or perhaps the publisher isn’t happy with the terms of Nvidia’s Geforce Now service. Regardless, it is a bold move to remove their entire gaming catalogue from the service within a week of the platform’s launch.
