E3 2020’s cancels its plans to host an “online experience” in June

After revealing the dates of E3 2021, which will be between June 15 and June 17th, the ESA confirmed to PC Gamer that the organisation no longer has any plans to present an online E3 2020 event this June.

Previously, the ESA claimed that they were planning to deliver an “online experience” to showcase industry announcements and news” in June 2020. Now, we know that this event will not be taking place, as many of the world’s top developers and game publishers have either cancelled their events entirely or have scheduled independent online events without the help of the ESA.

Below is the ESA’s comment to PC Gamer;

Given the disruption brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not be presenting an online E3 2020 event in June.  Instead, we will be working with exhibitors to promote and showcase individual company announcements, including on www.E3expo.com, in the coming months,

We look forward to bringing our industry and community together in 2021 to present a reimagined E3 that will highlight new offerings and thrill our audiences.
