Gears Tactics is available to pre-load on PC – Launch Trailer Released

This month, PC gamers will get access to Gears Tactics, either through Xbox Game Pass for PC or as a standalone game purchase. The game is a turn-based strategy title, similar to XCOM, which will see players train new Gears, combat the Locusts threat and target Ukkon, the creator of the Locust army’s biggest monsters.

While and Xbox version of Gears Tactics is planned, the game will be a PC exclusive at launch, arriving an as Intel-optimised title that’s designed to take advantage of advanced features such as Variable Rate Shading (VRS). VRS is a feature supported by Intel’s 11th Generation and future Xe series graphics hardware, though the feature is also supported by Nvidia’s RTX Turing architecture and AMD’s planned RDNA 2 graphics hardware.

In Gears Tactics, soldiers will be split into five classes, Vanguard, Sniper, Support Scout and Heavy, each of which has access to different weapons, skills and abilities. Mixing and matching the abilities and features of these classes will allow players to explore new tactics to combat the Locust threat.

Starting today, Gears 5 will be available to pre-load on PC, allowing PC gamers to prepare for the game’s April 28th launch. The game will be available on day-1 via Xbox Game Pass for PC, a subscription which costs £3.99 per month on the UK.

Gears Tactics is designed to be highly scalable on PC, which is great news for users of high-end and more modest gaming systems. On PC, Gears Tactics will support Variable Rate Shading and Asynchronous Compute, both of which are features of Intel’s Xe-LP graphics architecture. Both of these features are designed to increase Gears Tactics’ performance on PC, assuming that your hardware supports the function.
