Intel teases Xe Graphics announcement on August 13th
Tom’s Hardware managed to screenshot and archive Intel’s Tweet, which is believed to reference a real event that will be hosted next month. This Xe graphics reveal could come with the launch on Intel’s 10nm Tiger Lake processors, the first CPU design from Intel to support Xe-powered integrated graphics.
On August 17th, Intel’s David Blythe plans to present a technical brief on the company’s Xe graphics architecture at Hot Chips 2020. This talk is titled “The Xe GPU Architecture”, and it will come before a deep dive into the Xbox Series X’s System Architecture at the same event.
With the company’s Xe graphics, Intel plans to deliver stronger gaming performance than any of the company’s older GPUs, allowing PC gamers to get more from integrated graphics solutions. With Tiger Lake, Intel’s iGPU gaming performance could become competitive with AMD’s Ryzen Mobile offerings, which currently feature Radeon Vega-based integrated graphics.
In the future, Intel plans to release discrete graphics cards that are based on the company’s Xe graphics architecture. At this time it is unknown when Intel plans to release these parts onto the consumer market.
