Netflix and Ubisoft are working on a live-action Assassin’s Creed Series

Netflix and Ubisoft have today announced that they are working together to create a live-action series based on Assassin’s Creed, a new Netflix original series which will feature Ubisoft Film & Television’s Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik as executive producers.
At this time, the series has no showrunner, and no information about the game’s story has been released. This means that the series can be based on almost any historical period, given the time-hopping nature of the franchise.
Jason Altman, Head of Ubisoft Film & Television, had this to say following the announcement.

For more than 10 years, millions of fans around the world have helped shape the Assassin’s Creed brand into an iconic franchise. We’re thrilled to create an Assassin’s Creed series with Netflix and we look forward to developing the next saga in the Assassin’s Creed universe.

Following the success of their The Witcher series, Netflix has invested heavily into videogame properties, having invested in both live-action and animated Resident Evil shows, a cartoon based on Cuphead, a Dragon’s Dogma series and an animated The Witcher spin-off.

At this time, Ubisoft and Netflix have no revealed a planned release date for their Assassin’s Creed series. Simply put, it’s too early in the series’ development to confirm anything definitive about the series.
