Assassin’s and Samurai – Ubisoft reveals Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is launching on November 15th

Ubisoft has released their first official trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, revealing the game’s setting and its protagonists. Unlike most prior Assassin’s Creed titles, Assassin’s Creed Shadows features two playable characters, a Shinobi Assassin called Naoe, and a Samurai Warrior called Yasuke.

Shadows will be releasing on November 15th 2024. The game will be launching on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Amazon’s Luna cloud gaming service. The game will be available on day-1 through Ubisoft+ Premium, and as a standalone game. On PC, the game has been listed on the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games Store. Presently, the game is not listed on Steam.

Ubisoft’s new Assassin’s Creed game is based in Feudal Japan, with Yasuke being the African Samurai of historical legend. Specifically, the game is set in the Azuchi-Momoyama era, the final phase of the Sengoku period. During this time, Japan is in the midst of a civil war, and contact with Europeans have brought to Japan new ideas, opportunities, and weaponry to the conflict.

Shadows will be the first game in the AC franchise to release exclusively on today’s current-generation console platforms. This should help Ubisoft to make the game more graphically impressive than its predecessor. Furthermore, it may give Ubisoft the incentive to add modern graphical features like ray tracing to the series. Will this be the best looking Assassin’s Creed game to date?
